Many people suffer from homelessness all over the world. Ever since I was a young girl I contributed in the making of new houses for people in their time of need with the organization Habitat for Humanity. When I came to college I decided to continue my efforts and join the Habitat for Humanity on campus. Habitat for Humanity is a great cause, but it would not be possible without active volunteers. Volunteers are the root for this cause. We certainly have enough volunteers to have their houses worked on, but improvement is needed in the volunteers who help change someone's life. This can only happen if people come forward and volunteer their time to the needs of others. In order to make this happen I will begin by making pamplets and colorful fliers to grab attention. I will be targeting the college students of the University of Southern Indiana. In my brochures I will use personal expierences from people who have recieved the habitat for humanity help and of the volunteers who have volunteered their time in order to better the lives of others. I have also been thinking about making a short video to display in order to recruit more volunteers. In order to show others how important it is to volunteer and what it all entails I will be volunteering my own time. Along side others from the USI campus, I plan to help build and reconstruct for the sake of anothers well being. I then will participate in public sphere day(on the USI campus); displaying my pamphlets and fliers along with recruiting members for this wonderful cause. These are just a few things I will be doing to bring more volunteers in this great society.

First of all, I completely agree with you, and I think everyone else would too, that Habitat for Humanity is a great cause. Those volunteer workers do so much and put in a lot of time in order to help those who are less fortunate. I am not personally involved in this organization, but I would love to join and help out.
ReplyDelete•The video sounds like a great idea. What are your ideas on what you are thinking about putting on the posters and pamphlets? Maybe you could post a picture of you and others helping out?
•Not much detail about how the fliers and posters will be created. Try to use your imagination and be creative while creating them.
•You could maybe create small games or invidivual activities to get others involved.
I think that the picture idea is wonderful. I had not thought of anything like that. I am planning on putting some of my personal experiences with habitat and how I have helped and how it has changed my life. Is that a good idea? My creativity is some what limited do you have any ideas of what I could use?
ReplyDeleteI think the picture would help draw more people in since more people are more about pictures than words. You know, like "a picture is worth a thousand words" kind of thing. The personal experiences idea is great. The part about how it changed your life will draw the attention of more readers too. That is a great idea. Don't worry, my creativity level was low too, until I had others comment on my prosposal, and then I received their input and view on things. Maybe, just maybe, you grab an old photo of the organization and yourself and enlarge it on a piece of paper. Above it, you could put the saying "A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words"... just a thought.
